The eldest son of the Petrelli family, Nathan is heir not only to wealth, but to raw ambition. Nathan has always been an overachiever, athletic and intelligent as well as a natural leader, and he feels that he is meant to do great things, important things. To him, politics is a natural calling, and it is his standing dream to get within reach of the presidency of the United States. His career in the Navy, his achievements in the DA's office, his bid for Congress, all of them lay on the track he has set for himself, to succeed at all costs, to gain power, to be more than his father said he could be. He has a lovely wife, Heidi, and two school-aged sons, Simon and Monty. However, for how picture-perfect his life ought to be, things keep threatening to get out of control. The accident and Heidi's subsequent disability, Peter's single-minded determination to either kill himself or be some kind of comic book character (Nathan's not sure which at this point), the depths in which he's finding himself inside Linderman's pockets and this bizarre, disturbing ability to fly...Nathan's not entirely sure what's going to crumble first: his sanity, or the façade of perfection he's spent so many years building.
